Carolyn: “50 lbs lost after baby #2!”

I have been working with Kim for the past nine months. I initially started with Kim following the birth of my second child, and was in desperate need of a mentor in my postnatal weight loss. I definitely found that in Kim! I initially wanted to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, which would translate into a loss of around 30 lbs. However, in these past months, I have been able to shed one pound shy of 50 lbs. I have done this with Kim’s excellent guidance and holistic approach to a better lifestyle. I have worked with personal trainers in the past where I was given a program and the trainer would periodically check in on my progress. However, Kim is ever present in each session, correcting my form and cheering me on at every turn. Without that personal dedication from Kim, I highly doubt I would have made the progress I have made to date. I look forward to continuing my work with Kim, and I would highly recommend Kim to anyone wishing to make a lifestyle change, and who needs that extra bit of encouragement and guidance.

Pete: “Over 80 lbs lost in just over a year!”

I lived and worked an active lifestyle until the age of 36 when I decided to go back to school. The demands of school caused great changes to my way of life. By the time I completed my education, my activity level had dropped to nothing and I had gained more than 30 pounds. When I returned to the work force, my new career did not demand the same physical exertion as before, causing me to gain even more weight. By this time the cycle of bad food choices and over eating had consumed my life. For the next five years I tried to lose weight but no matter what I did my weight kept increasing until I had gained in excess of 100 pounds. Unable to lose the weight my health was at risk and I was uncomfortable in my own clothes. I felt trapped. I had resigned myself to the fact that this was the new me. With encouragement from family and friends not to give up I kept looking for a solution and this is when I met Kim. Kim was able to get me moving again in a way that was challenging yet not overwhelming which kept me coming back for more. In just over a year I have lost more than 80 pounds and have regained my strength and stamina. Kim’s holistic approach to healthy living focuses on a balance between nutrition, exercise and rest. Her instruction on the nutritional guidelines has given me the ability to identify the different food groups and use them to my advantage. This has led me to strategize smart food choices both at home and away. Kim’s knowledge of the body allows her to set up an exercise program that micromanages one’s muscle groups to maximize every exercise. This has transformed my body into a lean, well-defined powerful form which even I do not recognize. I never completely understood the fact that the body needs rest but after working with Kim I now know when my body is truly tired and when to rest it so as not to harm myself. The combination of nutrition, exercise and rest has increased my metabolic rate causing me to burn more calories in a day which translates to weight loss. My goal was not weight loss but healthy living which I have achieved with Kim’s help. Kim always comes to the studio giving one hundred percent of herself and I try to mirror her attitude and that is my strategy for success. Thank you Kim.

Katherine: “48 years young and a new lease on life”

About 2 years ago I was having a massage and noticed cards for 80/20 Lifestyle Studio.  I was just about to turn 48 and over the last few years a lifetime of inactivity was starting to show.  I had been away with my kids on March Break and for the first time I was not always able to keep up with them.  It was not a good feeling.  Apparently my exercise routine resembled that of a sloth. Having paid a gym membership for years without darkening the actual door of the gym I knew signing up at the local gym was not an option. I was intimidated by the other members and really had no clue what I was doing. But having someone make an appt with me and help me workout one-on-one was an opportunity I knew could not pass up.  So I called and made an appt with Kim.  The rest is history.  I knew it was a good decision when after a few weeks I did not greet my workout days with an $%#**.  Instead I found when I had to reschedule because of travel commitments I missed my workouts.  By the next March Break with Kim’s expert help I was rappelling down water falls, hiking and white water rafting.  It was the kids that had a hard time keeping up with me. I know I could never have done it without Kim.  Her studio is everything I needed to get fit and change my lifestyle.  She is professional, knowledgeable and makes each work out fun.  She pushes me but knows when I have reached my limits.  I feel safe, secure and know there is not a better place for me to work out.  She cold not have a more satisfied client.

Jody: “New mother, disappearing baby weight and reappearing muscle tone”

In June 2009, I entered parenthood with a sweet baby girl…and 30 extra pregnancy pounds. Despite the baby bliss, I felt uncomfortable and, well, puffy. I had no idea how I’d find a personal trainer who’d be able to accommodate the haphazard schedule of a new mother but I had to try. About a month into life with baby, I remembered a tip a friend shared with me about Kim and her personal training studio. Having gone to high school with Kim, I looked her up on Facebook and sent along a brief note. Next thing I knew, I (with baby in tow) was meeting with Kim to chat about personal training options. I was very grateful for that preliminary consultation because it gave me an opportunity to tell Kim my likes and dislikes in a fitness workout. Shortly after that, Kim was giving me a “butt-kickin” good time working out twice a week. Even a little sleep-deprived, I looked forward to my personal training sessions with Kim. The sessions were a little tough, a lot of fun (as much as a lunge and bicep curl can be) and best of all, effective! The nutritional and post-natal information Kim shared was handy new knowledge too. With each week, I noticed the baby weight disappear and the muscle tone reappear. Kim, thanks for the motivation, great workouts and our reacquainted friendship.

Janice: “Best shape of her life at 43!”

Kim is incredibly supportive and interested in my success.  When I first started working out with her I was active and in fairly good shape, but she has definitely taken me to the next level – a level I could not have achieved on my own.  I feel strong and fit and for perhaps the first time in my life I am truly happy with my current weight.  There is no better compliment than to hear “you look really fit”.  I fully attribute achieving my fitness goals to Kim pushing me beyond what I thought I was capable of…..and then pushing me further!  I feel better than ever I have and am in the best shape of my life at the tender age of 43! What a great feeling!!

80/20 is all about living in balance. Balance with exercise, balance with food and balance with all aspects of health. Kim has great knowledge base about all of the food groups and what our body needs to be healthy and she will work with clients to assist with individual dietary programs. Food is a very important aspect of health and well being and it is the 80 in 80/20! Kim creates very personalized cardio and strength building routines to suit each client no matter what your goals are or where you are on your “balance” journey. She has hundreds of cardio and strength building sets that work on a multitude of muscle groups. Stretching is also an important end to each session. Kim is personable, skilled, motivating and is always happy to learn more and share her knowledge with her clients. I have had a wonderful and enlightening experience with Kim and 80/20 Fitness and I have not felt this strong and fit in years.
